School Communications
- Every Monday, teachers will send home folders with graded work from the previous week. We ask that parents review the work, sign, and return the folder to school by Wednesday.
- In addition to school work, our weekly school newsletter “Indy Info” containing general information will be emailed to parents and posted on the Independence website on Thursdays.
- Parents should also check Home Access Center for student homework and class work information.
- When an unexpected event occurs, we will send out a building-wide text message alerting parents. Phone calls are reserved for emergencies. Please see the "Stay Informed" section below to make sure your communication preferences are up-to-date.

District Communications Portal
At Lakota, transparent and timely communication is critically important. Using a mass notification system, we deliver important school and district news and announcements primarily via email, but oftentimes by phone and text message as well.
All parent/guardian contact information updated in FinalForms and then displayed in your Home Access Center account is our primary source of email addresses and phone numbers used to communicate classroom, school and district news. Parents cannot update their contact information in any other portal. Staff are encouraged to update just their phone number via Lakota's payroll department, as noted below. Community members are also encouraged to subscribe to district and school communications.
