Visitors & Volunteers

Visitor's Guide

We welcome visitors and volunteers to our school. All visitors to the school building must register in the school office before contacting any student or member of the staff. This is a protection for teachers and pupils. Please stop in the office to sign in and obtain a visitor’s pass via scanning of your driver’s license. Parents should not be visiting classrooms unless they have met with the principal or assistant principal to review Lakota’s Classroom Visitation Policy.

Following Lakota District policy, all visitors and volunteers are required to bring their photo ID with them to be run through our Raptor system. It can take a little while to scan the first time new visitor identification is run through the Raptor system. We encourage visitors & volunteers to arrive a little early to allow for the scanning of their ID and the printing of a badge to wear in the building. Non-staff members are prohibited from entering the building without having successfully passed a Raptor screening.

Volunteering

Independence volunteers are mostly scheduled through our Parent-Teacher Asssociation (PTA). If you are interested, we encourage you to reach out to PTAIndy@gmail.com.

If a parent/family member wishes to volunteer to help in a teacher’s classroom, please first call the office (513-755-8300) to verify whether classroom volunteers are currently being allowed by the Lakota District. If they are being allowed, we will direct the volunteer to email the teacher directly to inquire about needs and to set up times/dates.
